Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) are water-soluble exfoliating acids that help remove dead skin cells, smooth uneven texture, and improve dullness for fresher, more radiant-looking skin. Commonly used AHAs such as glycolic, lactic, and citric acid help refine the skin’s surface while supporting a softer, more renewed complexion.
By exfoliating the skin’s surface, AHAs help lift away built-up dead skin cells that can leave skin looking dull or rough. With continued use, they can help improve the look of skin texture and radiance, revealing a complexion that appears smoother, fresher, and more refined. Different AHAs can offer slightly different benefits depending on the formula, with glycolic acid known for effective surface exfoliation and lactic acid often favoured for exfoliation with a more hydrating feel.

As with most exfoliating acids, AHAs are best introduced gradually, especially if your skin is new to active ingredients. Because AHAs may increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun, it is important to use daily sun protection while using them.
